One of the ways the Church-In-The-Gardens encourages community involvement and diversity is sponsoring our non-denominational scout programs for over 75 years. Troop 96, one of the oldest and most active Packs in Queens.

The Boy Scout Troop meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm and our Cub Scout Troop meets on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm Contact  for information.

Service Projects

Pancake Breakfast
Troop 96 involves themselves in several church and community projects. Among their most popular is the Annual Pancake Breakfast that we prepare on Scout Sunday. For a suggested donation each guest is treated to delicious homemade pancakes and stellar table service. Our sunny tea lounge provides the perfect ambiance for families and congregants to fellowship. The collected funds go to a local community facility or one of the church’s outreach programs. The boys vote on the recipient and the most recent recipient was an Automated External Defibrillator AED mounted in a centrally accessible location on our premises.

Flower Sale
Mother’s Day gives the Scouts another traditional fundraising opportunity. Two tables are set up outside in front of the church where a variety of potted flower plants and are sold by our dedicated Troop 96 to whoever walks by. Proceeds usually go to purchase camping equipment

Parent Involvement
Parents are encouraged to attend meetings and to share in the fun when scouts go camping, hiking and take part in service projects. Why should our boys have all the fun? Adults are also needed to serve on the Advancement Committee, the Board of Review and as merit badge counselors. Adult involvement helps our boys get the most out of scouting. Only with this commitment are we able to implement the rich program your son deserves.
