The first formal international and inter-denominational Christian Council to develop a common faith statement was held exactly 1,700 years ago, from May – July 325, in the city of Nicea (in Turkey on today’s map).

What resulted, the so-called Nicene Creed, is still spoken regularly in worship by many Christian communities in our nation and around the world, and is recognized by our denomination and our church (it can be found in our New Century Hymnal #883; see also the “alternate version” #884).

It continues to serve the function for which it was developed—a common “creed” or faith statement about who God is for us.

In this series we will discuss what the Nicene Creed says about God (and us) in light of the bible and in light of your own faith and understanding.

Join us for discussion and fellowship.
