By tradition, the first Sunday in Lent includes a reading of the story of Jesus’ temptation. Why?
What’s that got to do with Jesus’ ministry and what’s it got to do with us? We’ll discuss (and
answer?) those questions, and then launch into a fascinating excursion with Jesus as he meets
three extraordinary people: Nicodemus, the unnamed woman at the well, and Martha. How do
they challenge Jesus? How does Jesus challenge them? How are they like us? How might these
stories inform our faith and life?
