Two Wednesday Evenings — March 18 and 25 at 7 p.m.
In the Sanctuary
Matthew’s Gospel, Lent, Jesus, and Us
Matthew’s Gospel seems to go out of its way to include us (that is, followers of Jesus) in very particular ways in telling the story of
Jesus and of God’s ways in and for the world. We will look at stories that are particular to Matthew as well as stories shared by
other Gospels but told in particular ways by Matthew. We meet in the sanctuary, up front, in a circle, around the
warmth and light of the Christ candle. Join the discussion. No preparation needed or expected. That said, if you’d like to,
please begin reading the Gospel of Matthew—pay particular attention to the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5-7), to
Matthew’s telling of the Transfiguration Story (Matthew 17:1-8), and then the journey to Jerusalem, beginning at 17:22 through
chapter 20
