Musica Reginae to Perform Dance Music for The Sun King

On Saturday, March 24th there will be a performance of 17tth century dance music written for Louis XIV who was fondly called The Sun King of Versailles. King Louis ruled over an opulent and glittering French court full of music and art. A patron of the arts, Louis was also a skilled dancer and in 1653 danced a production of the 'Ballet de la Nuit' along with his famous court composer, Jean-Baptiste Lully. Works of Lully, Rameau, Couperin and Lalande will be played at this concert. Performers include Claire Smith Bermingham and Dan McCarthy, Baroque violins; Margret Hjaltested, Baroque viola; Anneke Schaul-Yoder, Baroque cello; and Aya Hamada, harpsichord. The concert will take place in the Sanctuary at 7:30 pm. Tickets: Adult $20; Students (ages 13-30) $10; kids 12 and under free.
