Meet You At The Fair—Our Volunteer Fair
The World Service Committee is working hard making preparations for the Volunteer Fair.
The World Service Committee is working hard making preparations for the Volunteer Fair, to be held in the CH on Sunday, February 23, from noon to 3pm. The purpose of the Fair will be to provide not-for-profit organizations with a venue to inform and recruit volunteers -- and to provide interested local volunteers with a central place to learn about organizations that would like to make use of their skills and experiences. We are recruiting non-profit groups with missions that serve the elderly, children at risk, animals, medical services, the environment, homelessness, social justice, and the arts. Some of the organizations that will be there are the Queens Community House, Hunts Point Alliance for Children, and the Briarwood Family Residence. Admission will be free to both non-profits and volunteers.
Of course, this is a CITG project not just World Service. It’s an opportunity for the Church to demonstrate its role in — and commitment to — our community and to making the world a better place for everyone. We hope the entire church family will join in by reaching out to non-profits and volunteers who might benefit from attendance, and by welcoming all of the participants at the event on February 23rd.
