Christmas at Briarwood
Annual Christmas Party
On Sat., Dec. 8th, the World Service Committee will be hosting its annual Christmas Party for the children living in the Briarwood Residence. A delicious pizza feast followed by Christmas cookies and candy kick off the festivities. Games sponsored by committee members follow. Finally, the star of the party, Santa Claus, arrives. There is a mountain of presents that have been collected from our church members and friends. Each child at Briarwood—there are approximately 175 kids— will receive a gift. In some cases, this might be their only Christmas present.
On Sundays, Nov. 18, 25 and Dec. 2, the Angel Tree decorated with Christmas angels will be set up in the Lounge. Each angel will specify a gift for a boy or girl and the child’s age. Please select one, two or three angels that will then be recorded by a WSC member who will be covering the table. Your gift should range in cost from $20 to $30, and it should be something the child can play with, not something to wear. We suggest gift cards for the older children. Please wrap your gift with the angel ornament prominently attached so that it will get to the correct child.
We kindly ask that you please bring your gift(s) to the church no later than Dec. 7th. These children are a treasure, and we can brighten their lives immeasurably this Christmas season.
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21 Merry Christmas from your World Service Committee!
